What is PATHFINDER?<\/strong><\/p>\n

PATHFINDER<\/a> is the all new diagnostic system specifically designed and released for the introduction of the following vehicles.<\/p>\n

Land Rover:<\/strong>
\n* Range Rover L405 (17MY)
\n* Range Rover Sport L494 (17MY)
\n* New Discovery L462 (17MY)<\/p>\n

Jaguar:<\/strong>
\n* F-TYPE X152 (18MY)
\n* F-PACE X761 (18MY)
\n* XE X760 (18MY)
\n* XF X260 (18MY)<\/p>\n

These vehicles have been designed to communicate with new high speed communication protocols. This allows faster software download, programming and communication, making it faster to use and saving valuable time.<\/p>\n

These vehicles can ONLY communicate with the all new PATHFINDER diagnostic software using the new Diagnostics over Internet Protocol (DoIP) Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) unit which conforms to the new communication protocol.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

All Retailers must install PATHFINDER to all Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment.<\/p>\n

Important information:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) does not have the functionality to communicate with these 2017 model year vehicles.<\/p>\n

PATHFINDER is the ONLY diagnostic tool to be used for the 2017 model year vehicles identified previously.<\/p>\n

What do I need to use PATHFINDER?<\/strong>
\nPanasonic Toughbook \/ Toughpad<\/p>\n

JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment For PATHFINDER to operate at its very best, the laptop or tablet being used must be an approved version\/level of hardware.<\/p>\n

Note: For further information on approved hardware to support PATHFINDER, refer to: – Administration Bulletins JAB00046 \/ LAB00051<\/p>\n

Installing PATHFINDER software<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong>
\n* The PATHFINDER software is designed to be installed to your existing JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment. Please make sure you have the latest level of SDD software installed before beginning the PATHFINDER software installation.
\n* Make sure there are no external USB flash drives inserted into the machine.
\n* Due to software file size, the software download and installation process will take some time.<\/p>\n

Downloading and Installing PATHFINDER<\/strong>
\n1. Make sure that the approved hardware is connected to the internet.
\n2. Open Internet Explorer
\n3. Using the following URL, Download the PATHFINDER software:
\n3.1 DOWN LOAD PATHFINDER UPDATER*.*. http:\/\/diagnosticdelivery.jlrext.com\/pathfinder\/Jaguar_Land_Rover_Connect_Updater_v2.exe<\/a>
\n4. Select \u2018Save\u2019, select \u2018Desktop\u2019, select \u2018Save\u2019.
\n5. The software file will now download.
\n6. Select \u2018Run\u2019.
\n7. A security warning window will appear, select \u2018Run\u2019.
\n8. The Jaguar Land Rover Connect Setup Wizard will now begin.
\n9. The \u2018Welcome to the Jaguar Land Rover Connect Setup Wizard\u2019 pop up will appear. Select \u2018Next\u2019.
\n10. The ‘Select Additional Tasks’ pop up will appear. Do not select the \u2018Create a desktop icon\u2019. Select \u2018Next\u2019.
\n10.1 Note: The installation progress will be shown on screen.
\n11. After installation, the ‘Completing the Jaguar Land Rover Connect Setup Wizard’ will appear. Select \u2018Finish\u2019.
\n12. The machine will now restart.
\n13. The Internet Explorer will open with your homepage or the new JLR App Launcher screen will open.
\n13.1 Note: The PATHFINDER icon will not work until the software download has completed.
\n14. The PATHFINDER software will automatically download in the background.
\n14.1 Note: To check the software download progress, select the \u2018Hidden Icon\u2019 arrow in the bottom right hand of the screen (Windows system tray). Right click the \u2018Connect\u2019 icon, select \u2018Check for Updates\u2019 and view the Jaguar Land Rover Application progress bar.
\n14.2 Note: Due to software file size, the software download and installation process will take some time, please be patient.
\n14.3 Note: Do not attempt to use PATHFINDER or SDD until the software download and installation has completed.
\n15. The \u2018Jaguar Land Rover Connect Updater\u2019 pop up will appear, select \u2018Install Now\u2019.
\n15.1 Note: If the \u2018Please close JLRAppLauncher to continue the installation\u2019 pop up appears, hover the cursor over the \u2018JLR Application Launcher\u2019 icon on the \u2018Windows Task Bar\u2019 at the bottom of the screen. Right click on the icon and select \u2018Close Window\u2019. Select \u2018Continue\u2019 on the \u2018JLRAppLauncher message\u2019 pop up.
\n16. The \u2018JLRAppLauncher message\u2019 pop up will close, PATHFINDER is now installing, please be patient.
\n17. Select the \u2018Hidden Icon\u2019 arrow in the bottom right hand of the screen (Windows system tray). Select the \u2018Connect\u2019 icon and view the \u2018Jaguar Land Rover Application progress bar.
\n18. When the progress bars display 100%, select \u2018Close\u2019.
\n19. PATHFINDER is now installed.<\/p>\n

Installing the Diagnostics over Internet Protocol (DoIP) Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) unit<\/strong>
\nNote:<\/strong><\/p>\n

* PATHFINDER requires a DoIP VCI unit to communicate with the 2017 model year Range Rover L405, Range Rover Sport L494 and New Discovery L462.
\n* The DoIP VCI must be the only VCI connected to the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment when using PATHFINDER. Future PATHFINDER communications will appear soon in the \u2018Activity Stream\u2019 section on TOPIx. Every retailer MUST have the DoIP VCI available in their workshop. The DoIP VCI is the only JLR approved VCI unit that can communicate with the 2017 model year vehicles identified earlier.
\n* Please be aware that the following instructions are only applicable for the first use of the VCI. Once the initial installation and settings have been completed, the DoIP VCI is plug and play with the PATHFINDER software.<\/p>\n

1. Insert the DoIP VCI USB cable into the DoIP VCI device and the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment.
\n1.1.Note: The \u2018USB Input Device\u2019 pop up will appear, select \u2018X\u2019 and close the pop up.
\n2. Select the \u2018Windows\u2019 key.
\n3. Select \u2018All Programs\u2019.
\n4. Select \u2018Bosch\u2019.
\n5. Select \u2018VCI Software (JLR)\u2019.
\n6. Select \u2018VCI Manager (JLR)\u2019.
\n7. Select the VCI icon displayed on screen.
\n8. Select \u2018Connect to VCI\u2019
\n9. Select \u2018VCI Update\u2019.
\n10. Select \u2018Start Update\u2019.
\n11. The \u2018VCI Manager Information\u2019 pop up will appear, select \u2018OK\u2019 to continue.
\n11.1 Note: Do not disconnect the DoIP VCI from the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment during the update process.
\n11.2 Note: The DoIP VCI update process will take approximately 12 minutes to complete.
\n12. The DoIP VCI will now automatically restart.
\n13. Wait for the DoIP VCI to give an audible beep. Select \u2018OK\u2019 to continue.
\n14. Select \u2018X\u2019 and close the \u2018VCI Manager\u2019.
\n15. The DoIP VCI is ready for use Setting Preferences in PATHFINDER<\/p>\n

Setting Preferences in PATHFINDER<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Select the PATHFINDER icon on the \u2018JLR Application Launcher\u2019.
\n2. Select \u2018Other User\u2019 and enter your \u2018User Identification\u2019 and Password details.
\n3. Select \u2018Independent Operator\u2019 or \u2018Authorised Repairer\u2019.
\n4. Select \u2018OK\u2019 and log in.
\n5. Read the content of the \u2018Warning\u2019 pop up and select \u2018OK\u2019.
\n6. Select the three bar icon in the top right of the screen. Select the \u2018Settings\u2019 icon\u2019.
\n7. Select the \u2018Communication Interface\u2019 tab. Select \u2018D-PDU\u2019.
\n8. The \u2018Windows Security Alert \u2013 Windows Firewall\u2019 pop up is displayed.
\n8.1 Note: Do not select \u2018Cancel\u2019 when the \u2018Windows Security Alert\u2019 pop up is displayed.
\n9. In the \u2018Windows Security Alert \u2013 Windows Firewall\u2019 pop up, select the check boxes for \u2018Private Networks\u2019 and \u2018Public Networks\u2019, then select \u2018Allow Access\u2019.
\n10. The preferences have now been set in PATHFINDER.
\n10.1 Note: Once the initial installation and settings have been completed, the DoIP VCI is plug and play with the PATHFINDER software.<\/p>\n
