This instruction show you guide on how to reset airbag crash data for Tesla Model 3 by Launch X431.<\/p>\n

This function is used to reset airbag crash data in order to recycle airbag ECU (Electric Control Unit). (In some countries, erasing airbag crash data without changing airbag assembly is not legal. So, we highly recommend to replacing car\u2019s entire airbag assembly).<\/p>\n

Preparations:<\/strong>
\nLaunch X431 V Pro<\/a> or Launch X431 PAD V<\/a><\/p>\n

Procedures:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Preparation (For some Model 3 vehicle, there\u2019s no need to remove airbag ECU. If OBDII can communicate normally, please skip this procedure)<\/p>\n

Remove airbag ECU from vehicle<\/p>\n

Airbag ECU connection position<\/p>\n

Airbag ECU wiring diagram<\/p>\n

Wiring and pin allocation<\/p>\n

+12V: 12V power supply<\/p>\n

GND: Ground wire<\/p>\n

CAN_H: CAN high<\/p>\n

CAN_L: CAN low<\/p>\n

Resetting airbag crash data software operation procedure<\/p>\n

Go into Tesla software, select\u201dModel 3\u2033 ->\u201dSpecial Function\u201d -> \u201cService AIRBAG\u201d ,as shown in figure 1, or select\u201dModel 3\u2033 -> \u201cSystem Selection\u201d \u2013> \u201cSDM Airbag\u201d -> \u201cSpecial Function\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlock airbag ECU, click\u201d Unlock EEPROM After Crash\u201d . It will finish automatically.<\/p>\n

Read airbag ECU memory, select \u201cRead EEProm\u201d menu, when reading is done, input backup file name, select backup file storage directory, data backup is done.<\/p>\n

Input backup file name, for example \u201cModel_3_20210520\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Click \u201cOK\u201dto backup data.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Read EEPROM and backup finished<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Erase crash data, go into \u201d Erase Crash -Direct\u201d menu, select \u201d Read EEProm\u201d backup file. The software will automatically perform \u201d Write EEProm\u201d to write backup data and verify if data written is correct.<\/p>\n

Select backup file<\/p>\n

Click \u201cModel_3_20210520.bin\u201d to select back file<\/p>\n

Edit backup data. Press\u201d YES\u201d to use default data. Press \u201d Auto Set\u201d to automatically modify value (recommended). Press \u201d Memory Dump\u201d to manually modify backup data.<\/p>\n

if you press \u201d Auto Set\u201d , it will skip this procedure. Press \u201d Memory Dump\u201d , you can manually modify backup data. Start address is where the system starts to read backup data and it can be modified manually. After entering start address, press \u201d Confirm\u201d to write modified data, click \u201d Restore\u201d to recover it to old value.<\/p>\n

Write data, erase airbag crash data.<\/p>\n

Verify written data<\/p>\n

\nWrite crash data, go into \u201cWrite EEProm\u201d menu, select backup file. The software will automatically write backup data and verify if data is correct. This procedure is similar to above mentioned procedure \u201cErase Crash -Direct\u201d .<\/p>\n

Select backup file<\/p>\n

Click \u201cModel_3_20210520.bin\u201d to select back file<\/p>\n

Edit backup data. Press\u201cYES\u201dto use default data. Press \u201cAuto Set\u201d to automatically modify value (recommended). Press \u201cMemory Dump\u201d to manually modify backup data.<\/p>\n

Write Data<\/p>\n

Verify written backup data<\/p>\n

Erase crash record, go into\u201dErase Crash Record\u201d menu, the software will automatically finish it.<\/p>\n

Clear DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code), put airbag ECU back. Erasing crash data is done.<\/p>\n
