The manual mode of the Cat ET Intake Valve Actuator Test allows for the troubleshooting of a specific intake valve actuator by actuating a single intake valve actuator. At the start of the test, all intake valve actuators are stopped, and only one actuator can be activated at a time.<\/p>\n

Steps to Start the Automatic Test:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Start the Test:<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • Click the Start<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
    • The Suction Valve Actuator Test Selection<\/strong> screen will appear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Select Manual Mode:<\/strong>\n
        \n
      • Click the Manual Suction Valve Actuator Test<\/strong> radio button.<\/li>\n
      • Click Next >><\/strong> to proceed.<\/li>\n
      • The Suction Valve Actuator Test Conditions<\/strong> screen will appear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Verify Service Conditions:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Ensure that all service conditions are met.<\/li>\n
        • Click Next >><\/strong> to begin the test.<\/li>\n
        • Note:<\/strong> The test will only run if all test conditions are met. If the service conditions are not met, the Suction Valve Actuator Test Aborted<\/strong> screen will appear, indicating the reason for the test being aborted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Continue with Manual Mode:<\/h3>\n
            \n
          1. Warning Notification:<\/strong>\n
              \n
            • A warning box will display the following message:\n
                \n
              • “Running this test will cause significant engine smoke. This test should be run in a well-ventilated area.”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • Click OK<\/strong> to continue the test or Stop<\/strong> to abort and return to the main screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • Additional Warnings:<\/strong>\n
                  \n
                • A warning message may appear if:\n
                    \n
                  • The cooling fan is controlled by the ECM. Click OK<\/strong> to continue or Stop<\/strong> to abort without turning on the cooling fan.<\/li>\n
                  • Engine speed is controlled by the ECM, click **OK** to continue or **Stop** to abort without adjusting the engine speed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                  • Note:<\/strong> Clicking Stop<\/strong> initiates the shutdown process. The engine speed will automatically increase, and a progress bar will display the status. Once the increased speed is maintained for a specific time, the progress bar will show the progress. A Test Stopped by User<\/strong> message box will provide post-test instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                  • Troubleshoot Specific Actuator:<\/strong>\n
                      \n
                    • To test a specific intake valve actuator, either double-click the actuator or highlight it and click the Change<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
                    • The selected actuator will energize for five seconds and then de-energize automatically.<\/li>\n
                    • Note:<\/strong> Only one actuator can be energized at a time. The number of tests is limited. When this limit is reached, a message box will appear. Click OK<\/strong> and exit the test to continue testing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                    • End the Test:<\/strong>\n

                      • Click Stop<\/strong> to end the Intake Valve Actuator Test in manual mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
