The Scania 4-series lacks a coordinator and traditionally uses VCI1 to connect to the vehicle for running SD2\/SP2 software.   1. Hardware\n
      \n
    • Standard CAN connector (Scania P\/N 1349719)<\/li>\n
    • Four cables (approximately 40 cm each)<\/li>\n
    • Two alligator clips<\/li>\n
    • Standard VCI connector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Software\n
        \n
      • XCOM diagnostic tool<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Steps to Configure<\/h4>\n
          \n
        1. Build the Custom VCI Cable\n
            \n
          • Connect the wires as follows:\n
              \n
            • Pin 16 \u2192 Red alligator clip (power source)<\/li>\n
            • Pin 4 \u2192 Black alligator clip (ground)<\/li>\n
            • Pins 6 and 14 \u2192 CAN connector (for CAN High and CAN Low)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
            • Set XCOM Tester Address and Search Mode\n
                \n
              • Open XCOM and navigate to the Options menu.<\/li>\n
              • Modify the following settings:\n
                  \n
                • Tester Address: Set to \u201cF9.\u201d<\/li>\n
                • Search Mode: Change to \u201cS6 PRESAMM (Physical request ECU 0x00).\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                • Confirm the warning message by selecting OK.<\/li>\n
                • Save changes and restart XCOM.

                  Note: These changes will configure XCOM (and compatible tools like SDP3, Gadget, CDev, and DMecNet) to exclusively scan for the EMS on the CAN bus. No other ECUs will be detected.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

                • Connect the VCI Setup to the Vehicle\n
                    \n
                  • Attach the \u201chomemade\u201d VCI cable to the vehicle\u2019s connection port located under the fuse box.<\/li>\n
                  • Plug the VCI2 into the custom VCI cable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                  • Start Diagnostics\n
                      \n
                    • Launch XCOM. It should now be ready to connect to the ECU (EMS) via the CAN bus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                    • Restore XCOM Settings\n
                        \n
                      • Once diagnostics are complete, revert the changes made in Step 2:\n
                          \n
                        • Reset the Tester Address back to “F9” (default) or the previously used address.<\/li>\n
                        • Restore the Search Mode to its default setting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
