{"id":9771,"date":"2020-06-25T06:11:01","date_gmt":"2020-06-25T06:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/?p=9771"},"modified":"2020-06-24T06:17:15","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T06:17:15","slug":"how-to-solve-high-battery-discharge-warning-on-bmw-f01-f02-with-bmw-icom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/how-to-solve-high-battery-discharge-warning-on-bmw-f01-f02-with-bmw-icom\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Solve High Battery Discharge Warning on BMW F01 F02 with BMW ICOM?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For BMW F01 F02,after the vehicle is started, a Check Control message \u201cHigh Battery Discharge Warning\u201d is displayed in the Central Information Display (CID).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Various power supply and power management faults are stored, including the following:<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CAS \u2013 \u201c930769 Deactivation of terminal 15: upper startability limit reached\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CAS \u2013 \u201c93076A Deactivation of terminal 15: upper startability limit reached, but deactivation preventer or legal load\/consumer active\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CAS \u2013 \u201c93076B Deactivation of terminal 30B: upper startability limit reached\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CAS\u2013\u201c93076C Deactivation of terminal 30B: upper startability limit reached, but deactivation preventer or legal load\/consumer active\u201d<\/p>\n<p>JBE\u2013 \u201c8020E8 Reset or deactivation of terminal 30F\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DME\u2013\u201c213901 Power management: reduction or deactivation of individual electrical loads\/consumers\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>CAUSE<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The battery has become heavily discharged or is faulty. The following reasons can contribute to a prematurely failing battery:<\/p>\n<p>Unfavorable driving profile \u2013 excessive short trips<\/p>\n<p>Excessive terminal 30B after run \u2013 normal coolant pump or electric fan operation<\/p>\n<p>Extremely cold temperatures<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle faults \u2013 closed circuit draw, sleep mode preventer or frequent wakeups<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>PROCEDURE<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.Perform energy diagnosis and follow the recommendations of the test plan<\/p>\n<p>2.Test the battery:<\/p>\n<p>a.For vehicles up to September 2010, use the BMW battery tester.<\/p>\n<p>b.For vehicles after September 2010, use the advance onboard diagnostics with ISTA.<\/p>\n<p>3.If the results of the battery tests indicate that the battery needs replacement, continue to the next step. If the results of the battery test state to recharge the battery, ensure that you are charging the battery sufficiently before testing. This can take from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the size and discharge state of the battery. As a rule of thumb, if the battery was heavily discharged quickly, it should be charged quickly. If the battery was discharged over a long period, it should be recharged slowly. Refer to the operating manual that came with your battery charger on proper settings.<\/p>\n<p>4.Replace the originally equipped 90 AH AGM battery with a 105 AH AGM battery. Refer to ISTA Repair Manual \u201c61 00 \u2026 Notes for disconnecting and connecting battery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Important Note: <\/b><\/strong>Before mounting the battery in place, bend the metal tab down flush with the battery tray.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, a longer battery vent tube must also be installed in order to facilitate the larger battery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9772 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/BMW-ICOM-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/BMW-ICOM-1-1.jpg 567w, https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/BMW-ICOM-1-1-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before mounting the battery in place,make sure the battery vent hose is connected as indicated by the arrow.<\/p>\n<p>The short end of the elbow should be connected to the battery to gain some extra clearance.<\/p>\n<p>Record the matrix and supplier code from the label of the battery for entry in the next step.<\/p>\n<p>The original battery hold-down clamp can be used with the new battery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9773 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/BMW-ICOM-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/BMW-ICOM-2-1.jpg 566w, https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/BMW-ICOM-2-1-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 566px) 100vw, 566px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5.Register the new battery using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.obd2tool.com\/goods-3179-BMW+ICOM++ICOM+A2+ICOM+A3++Engineers+Version+Software.html\">ISTA<\/a>.
