Launch CRP919 Not Connecting to Chrysler Hybrid Vehicles – Explanation and Solution

Question:
Can the Launch CRP919E diagnose Chrysler hybrid vehicles like the 2021 Voyager or Pacifica? The EV (electric vehicle) icon appears grayed out, and the EV software fails to download. Although the CRP919 can read the VIN and pull basic fault codes, it doesn’t go further—even with an active SGW AutoAuth license.

Solution:
To fully diagnose Chrysler hybrid (EV) vehicles, you need the Launch EV Diagnostic Kit.
However, CRP919 series devices (CRP919E, CRP919X, CRP919E BT, CRP919X BT) are not compatible with the EV Kit.

To properly access Chrysler hybrid systems, you have two options:
Launch X431 Tablet + EV Diagnostic Kit
Launch CRP919 EV Diagnostic Scanner (a dedicated version that includes EV support)

The Launch CRP919E is compatible with Chrysler hybrid vehicles. It supports FCA vehicles (including Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Fiat) with AutoAuth functionality for bypassing the security gateway module (SGW) on 2018 and newer models. This allows the scanner to perform bidirectional control, active tests, and special functions on these vehicles without needing special adapters.
